Description
GUIDED TOUR BY THE MUSÉE DE LA POSTE'S TEAM
Located in the heart of the Montparnasse district, opposite the train station, the Musée de La Poste (the French postal service Museum) is a unique, unconventional, contemporary, and surprising museum!
Through its historical, philatelic, and artistic collections, it offers an opportunity to explore the rich universe of postal history, from the first messengers to the present day. As a reflection of societal evolution, the museum invites visitors to journey through time and revisit the history of France through the lens of postal activities.
The exhibition is organized into three sections:
1. The Conquest of Territories
Relive the epic story of postal mobility, from the Ancien Régime to today. Discover the evolution of postal transportation methods and how La Poste - the French postal service - has met logistical challenges to connect territories and ensure continuity of service, even in times of crisis.
2. People and Professions
Dive into the daily lives of postal workers—the women and men who have shaped La Poste's identity and reputation. Explore the diversity of professions, from post offices to sorting centers, and learn about the essential role postal agents play in the daily lives of French citizens.
3. La Poste, Art, and Stamps
Discover La Poste's artistic world through its philatelic collections and modern and contemporary artworks. The postage stamp, a true miniature masterpiece, reveals its design secrets and reflects the evolution of French society. You’ll also encounter mail art and postal art—forms of artistic expression inspired by the postal universe.
The Musée de La Poste offers to host two groups of 25 people free of charge.
