Curator IMMA Horizons - Health Partnerships

Description

Bairbre-Ann HARKIN is Curator of IMMA Horizons at the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) in Dublin, where she develops creative programs and partnerships exploring the role of art in health and wellbeing. Specialising in inclusive museum experiences, she previously served as IMMA's Art & Ageing Curator and spent six years as Education Curator at Butler Gallery, where she pioneered dementia-inclusive art programs. She has also contributed to international initiatives connecting museums, creativity and brain health. IMMA (Irish Museum of Modern Art) is Ireland's national institution for modern and contemporary art. Located in the historic Royal Hospital Kilmainham in Dublin, the museum presents exhibitions, collections and public programs that encourage audiences to engage with contemporary art and ideas. Launched in 2023, IMMA Horizons explores the role of art and creativity in supporting health, wellbeing and social connection. Through inclusive cultural experiences and partnerships with health and community organisations, the initiative seeks to make the museum more accessible to diverse audiences. It also contributes to wider discussions on how museums can support individual and collective wellbeing and strengthen connections between the cultural and healthcare sectors.
