Future Museum Open Day A one-day event to explore the challenges shaping the museum of tomorrow

📆18 November 2026 📍BRUSK, Bruges, Belgium

For several years, Museum Booster has been bringing museum professionals together through Future Museum, the international research program designed to explore the major transformations shaping the future of museums. Combining research, strategic foresight, benchmarking and peer exchange, the program gives professionals space to step back from their day-to-day activities, question existing approaches and explore new perspectives.

Future Museum Open Day, by Museum Booster × Museum Connections, extends this dynamic through a one-day event open to a wider community of museum and cultural professionals. By bringing together the expertise, perspectives and professional networks of both organisations, the Open Day connects strategic thinking with insights, experiences and practices from across the museum and cultural sector.

Throughout the day, conferences, case studies and expert insights explore the key challenges facing museums, combining forward-looking perspectives with practical experiences and approaches from the field. The program also creates space for discussion and networking between participants, speakers and experts, providing opportunities to compare approaches, share experiences and build new professional connections across institutions, countries and areas of expertise.

In just one day, Future Museum Open Day offers an opportunity to step back, gain new perspectives and exchange with peers and experts working on the future of museums.

Future Museum Open Day is intended for professionals working in museums and cultural institutions. Registration is subject to approval by the organisers.

Future MuseumAn international research program to anticipate transformations in the museum sector

Future Museum is an international research program developed by Museum Booster, bringing together museum professionals and institutions to explore the major transformations shaping the future of the sector.

The program combines research, strategic foresight, benchmarking and cross-sector intelligence to help institutions better understand changes in their environment, compare approaches and inform strategic decision-making.

Structured around several research phases, Future Museum creates a framework for reflection and exchange between professionals from different institutions and countries.

The Open Day brings some of these discussions to a wider professional community.
