Memory & Emotion in public's ear: remembering World War II through bone conduction audio terminals

Jan 14, 2025 | 11:00 AM - 11:20 AM

Description

As part of the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of Grenoble, Losonnante and the city of Grenoble have partnered to offer an immersive and memorable cultural experience. Two bone conduction audio terminals were installed at the Bibliothèque d’étude et du patrimoine and the Bibliothèque Arlequin, allowing the history of 1939-1945 to be conveyed through sound. These innovative devices, accessible to the widest audience, offer rich and varied audio capsules: testimonies from former resistance fighters, iconic music of the time period, and excerpts from historic speeches. By immersing visitors in a unique sensory journey, this collaboration combines technological innovation with the transmission of memory. Their shared mission is clear: to highlight historical and cultural heritage in an original, impactful, and emotional way, while paying tribute to a significant period of local history, ensuring that the past continues to resonate in the present.
