Neurosciences & Museum experience

Jan 15, 2025 | 2:00 PM - 2:45 PM

Description

How can neurosciences—a multidisciplinary field that studies the nervous system and its impact on sensory perception, cognition, and emotions—enhance our understanding of interactions with cultural objects? To what extent can methodologies, experiments, and insights from neurosciences inform the design of visitor experiences, museum interpretation, and scenography? French and international neuroscientists, collaborating in various ways with the artistic and museum sectors, are invited to share their perspectives on the ambitions and implications of these approaches. They will discuss the value of conducting experiments based on research protocols and present concrete examples of collaborations between museum professionals and neuroscientists. These examples will shed light on the nature of these partnerships, their added value, and the opportunities they present for the museum sector. Although this session does not focus primarily on projects aimed at well-being and health—an essential topic already addressed in previous editions of the conference—this aspect will be contextualized within the broader possibilities opened up by dialogues between museums and neurosciences.
