In an era defined by short attention spans, cultural institutions are exploring diverse strategies to captivate their audiences, with gamification emerging as a prominent trend. Treasure hunts, scavenger hunts, and escape games are among the most popular formats, often targeting families.
However, as adults increasingly engage in both digital and traditional playful activities, how can museums and heritage sites leverage this trend to attract and retain new adult visitors, offering them a new way to experience cultural contents?
This session focusses on event-based and permanent formats designed specifically for adult audiences (while also appealing to teenagers). We will analyze objectives and success factors, as well as the role these formats can have in terms of interpretation, marketing, and audience development.
