I'm Hippolyte, the person behind these posters.
In 2020, during the lockdown, I found myself spending several weeks in a house on the Île de Ré. That's when the idea first took shape: to map the island using nothing but the names of its villages, filling the entire territory with typography until the words themselves formed its outline. The distinctive coastline of an island naturally creates a unique visual identity.
That's when I realized that our regions, villages, cities, neighborhoods and every corner of the world could be recognized through nothing more than their names and their outlines.
The decision was made!
Driven by my passion for typography and cartography, I created Les Petits Plans and embarked on the ambitious journey of redrawing the world, one place at a time.
