🏰 From Iconic Places to Tie-In Products: showcasing the Heritage of the Palace of Versailles

How can the details of an exceptional heritage site be transformed into appealing merchandise across a wide range of price points? The Palace of Versailles presents how its collections, interiors and iconic spaces inspire the development of products for its museum shops, drawing on the richness and authenticity of its heritage. From the Hall of Mirrors to the Queen’s public and private apartments, this workshop visit will offer a different perspective on the Palace’s interiors and artworks, exploring their potential to inspire commercial products. The tour will continue to Marie-Antoinette’s Petit Trianon, which is hosting an exhibition celebrating the 20th anniversary of Sofia Coppola’s film Marie Antoinette. Throughout the visit, a selection of merchandise inspired by these spaces and artworks will be presented, offering opportunities to discuss design choices and how authentic heritage details can be translated into product ranges at different price points. The visit will be led by Alan Trividic, Head of the Brands and Concessions Department at the Palace of Versailles, and Aurélie De Oliveira, Deputy Head, who will share their expertise and experience in developing merchandise inspired by the estate’s heritage. This visit will be conducted in French and/or English, depending on the language preferences of the participants. It is primarily intended for professionals responsible for product development and retail collections in museums, historic houses, palaces, parks and gardens. Registrations that do not match this audience may be cancelled to ensure a relevant and cohesive group. An optional lunch with the Palace of Versailles team may extend the discussions after the visit. Practical information: comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Participants will be able to leave their luggage on site before the visit.

🎨 Discovery of the Centre Pompidou’s Space for Teenagers and Young Adults at the Gaîté Lyrique: Studio 13/16

The Centre Pompidou presents Studio 13/16, its space dedicated to teenagers and young adults. A laboratory for artistic and social creation and reflection designed with contemporary artists, it offers an original programme of workshops and collective artistic experiences that resonate with current affairs. Since April 2026, during the renovation of the Centre Pompidou, the Studio has been based at the Gaîté Lyrique, a cultural venue in the heart of Paris committed to creation and engagement, with which it shares the values of hospitality, knowledge sharing and cooperation. In a 400 m² space, it is experimenting with new formats for encounters and creative engagement for young adults. The visit will offer a discovery of the space, how it works and its current programme, “Votre attention svp !” (Your attention, please!). Distraction, procrastination, mental overload: as our attention is constantly in demand, this programme turns inefficiency, laziness and inattention into drivers of creation, and invites young people to let their minds wander. It brings together artists Abbas Zahedi, Léa Dumayet, Gwendal Coulon and Chloé Desmoineaux, as well as the Nouvelle Génération department of the Bibliothèque publique d’information. A peer exchange will follow, to discuss the questions raised by the space and its engagement formats. The Studio 13/16 team will share their hands-on experience of working with young audiences. This visit will be bilingual (French / English).

🤝 Universal Accessibility at the Musée national de la Marine: Project Development and Co-creation

After six years of renovation, the Musée national de la Marine reopened at the end of 2023 in Paris. The museum presents the universal accessibility approach developed on this occasion. Designed for all audiences, it addresses both physical access and access to content. Developed notably through co-creation with disabled people, it received the ICOM-CECA “Best Practice” award in 2024. This peer visit will share the lessons learned from the accessibility work carried out during the renovation, now three years on from the museum’s reopening. During a tour of the permanent collections, participants will discover the interpretation tools and accessibility solutions put in place. The visit will continue with a workshop on the museum’s new projects: co-creation is now being extended to the health and social care sector to design new adapted activities, which will then be offered to all audiences. The resources developed in this context will be presented. The workshop will be co-led by Lucie Aerts, Head of Learning, and Maelys Pratlong, Learning and Accessibility Officer, who will share their expertise and experience of the museum’s universal accessibility approach. This visit will be conducted exclusively in French. It is primarily intended for heads and officers in audience engagement, learning and accessibility. Registrations that do not match this audience may be cancelled to ensure the consistency of the group.
