SIKIGU is created by a paper box manufacturer founded in Osaka in 1919.
Osaka is the only prefecture in Japan where paper box making has been officially designated as a Regional Industrial Resource under Japan’s national program for promoting local industries, and remains one of the country’s most vibrant hubs for this craft.
Unlike many manufacturers that began in printing and later expanded into paper boxes, we have devoted ourselves exclusively to paper box making since our founding. More than a century of focus on a single craft has shaped the foundation of SIKIGU.
Drawing on paper-processing techniques from across Japan, we bring these skills together to create new forms for modern life.
The name SIKIGU comes from two Japanese words: Shiki, the art of processing paper, and Gu, meaning tool. Together, they express what we are: tools made from the craft of paper.
For centuries, paper has served people in three essential ways: to deliver a message, to hold and protect, and to bring beauty into a space.
SIKIGU reimagines these three roles for today.
To Deliver
Sharing what matters, one message at a time.
To Hold
Shaping paper into forms that keep and protect.
To Accent
Bringing color and character into everyday spaces.
Each SIKIGU piece is finished in refined colors that blend naturally into daily life, while quietly brightening the spaces around us.
