Jan 14, 2027 | 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Description

How can the details of an exceptional heritage site be transformed into appealing merchandise across a wide range of price points? The Palace of Versailles presents how its collections, interiors and iconic spaces inspire the development of products for its museum shops, drawing on the richness and authenticity of its heritage. From the Hall of Mirrors to the Queen’s public and private apartments, this workshop visit will offer a different perspective on the Palace’s interiors and artworks, exploring their potential to inspire commercial products. The tour will continue to Marie-Antoinette’s Petit Trianon, which is hosting an exhibition celebrating the 20th anniversary of Sofia Coppola’s film Marie Antoinette. Throughout the visit, a selection of merchandise inspired by these spaces and artworks will be presented, offering opportunities to discuss design choices and how authentic heritage details can be translated into product ranges at different price points. The visit will be led by Alan Trividic, Head of the Brands and Concessions Department at the Palace of Versailles, and Aurélie De Oliveira, Deputy Head, who will share their expertise and experience in developing merchandise inspired by the estate’s heritage. This visit will be conducted in French and/or English, depending on the language preferences of the participants. It is primarily intended for professionals responsible for product development and retail collections in museums, historic houses, palaces, parks and gardens. Registrations that do not match this audience may be cancelled to ensure a relevant and cohesive group. An optional lunch with the Palace of Versailles team may extend the discussions after the visit. Practical information: comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Participants will be able to leave their luggage on site before the visit.
